The first round of AK Parti’s “Common Discourse in Foreign Policy” meetings have now been concluded.

The first round of meetings organised by AK Parti’s Foreign Affairs Department for the Members of Parliament in the Turkish National Assembly have now been concluded. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan addressed the Members of Parliament providing insights on the current course of Turkish foreign policy.
In total, four separate meetings were held with Members of Parliament representing all regions within Türkiye, these meetings were held to ensure that Turkish foreign policy advances within a clear framework providing effective communication and coordination across the Ministry, Parliament, and the Party, while also aiming to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy.

In meetings attended by the Members of Parliament from Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, Eastern Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia, Black Sea, and Central Anatolia regions, The Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan delivered a comprehensive and insightful presentation to all those in attendance.
During the sessions, Minister Fidan briefed MPs on a wide range of topics including: The genocide in Gaza, the new administration in Syria, Türkiye–U.S. relations under a second Trump presidency, Global trade dynamics, Türkiye’s mediating role in the Ethiopia–Somalia conflict. These were among several subjects discussed across the four sessions.
It was reported that Minister Fidan answered each question posed by the Members of Parliament and further emphasised the great importance of coming together with AK Parti parliamentarians to communicate ongoing works, receive feedback, and make well-informed decisions based on guidance and recommendations.
During the meeting, Minister Fidan is said to have underlined that while Turkish foreign policy has always been a dynamic process, this has process has deepened further in recent years, with issues becoming more diverse and multilayered.
Fidan also reportedly highlighted their commitment to addressing global and regional challenges by producing solutions grounded in the values of the AK Parti

The party’s diplomatic engagements were presented to the members of parliament.
AK Parti Vice Chairman Zafer Sırakaya also provided a brief to the Members of Parliament during the meetings. Discussing the work carried out in his department and the memoranda of understanding signed by AK Parti with various political parties across the globe.
Sırakaya underlined that as of today, the party have signed 16 Memoranda of Understandings with 16 political parties and that they will continue efforts to expand the list of parties in the near future, particularly focusing on the ruling parties in Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia..
