In his statement on the 19^th of May, the Commemoration of Atatürk, the Youth and Sports day, AK Parti Vice Chairman, Chairman of Foreign Affairs and Istanbul Member of Parliament Zafer Sırakaya, emphasised that this date is not only the beginning of the battle for independence but also a representation of the nation’s spirit of unity.

Zafer Sırakaya, Vice Chairman of AK Parti and Member of Parliament for Istanbul, issued a message to mark and celebrate the 19^th of May, the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. In his message, Sırakaya underlined that the 19^th of May 1919 signifies the first and important step on the Republic of Türkiye’s Road to independence, this day also represents a powerful revival of the unity and solidarity our nation has shown, and this day also represents the strong symbol of the trust placed in the youth.

In his statement on his social media accounts, Zafer Sırakaya stated:

“We firmly believe that the extraordinary nature of the National Struggle fought by our noble nation, will continue to guide our path moving forward in the face of every adverse challenge and hardship. Just as it did in the past, the present day and for the future generations.”

“The greatest strength of the Century of Türkiye, is the Youth.”

Reaffirming his faith placed in the younger generation, Sırakaya stated:

“Our youth who ate the guarantors of our future, are the most important force that will carry the Century of Türkiye forward. As AK Parti, we have always believed in our youth and will continue to stand by them.”

The Heroes of this National Struggle were also remembered:

Concluding his statement, Zafer Sırakaya continued to address the youth to whom the 19^th of May was dedicated for, stating:

“While preserving our unity, we once again commemorate with gratitude and compassion the National Heroes, our revered martyrs, and our valiant veterans, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal, who gifted this day, the 19^th of May, to our youth, Türkiye’s most precious treasure. We reiterate our firm belief that with the spirit of the 19^th of May, we will continue to move confidently forward into the Century of Türkiye.”
