AK Parti Vice Chairman and Chairman of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the attack carried out on the Chairman of CHP, Özgür Özel.

The attack that took place following the memorial ceremony for Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and Istanbul MP from the DEM Party, targeting CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, prompted Zafer Sırakaya to issue the following statement on the social media platform X:

“I strongly condemn the vile and despicable attack carried out against CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel during his condolence visit.

The assault on Mr. Özel is not merely an attack on an individual or a politician, but a disgraceful act against our national will, our shared values, and our traditions and customs.

The steel resolve of our democracy, which has been tested time and time again by such treacherous assaults and heinous attempts, will never be shaken by acts like this.

Every hand raised against democracy will find us standing in its way.

I extend my best wishes to Mr. Özel and emphasise the critical importance of standing united against such provocative acts.”
